Water Chemistry for EFW & Biomass Plants
This course is aimed at operations personnel of Waste and Biomass fired power generation facilities. The course is designed to provide these personnel with an awareness of the importance of water chemistry and an understanding of the issues and consequences of ineffective control. Personnel will also gain an understanding of water treatment plant and their operation.
A two day course that can be supplemented with a third day to cover the equipment, testing procedures, and testing regimes on your plant. A short test will be held at the end of the course to assess the understanding of the learners. Learners who successfully pass the assessment tests will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
The course covers:
The relevance of water chemistry with regards to the operation of a water tube boiler and steam turbine system.
Applicable chemistry including atoms, compounds, elements, and the periodic table.
Ionic bonding.
PH, alkalinity and acidity.
The water cycle, hardness salts, contaminants, and conductivity in supply water.
Different types of water treatment processes including deionisation, reverse osmosis, degasification, and filtration.
The cause, effect, and control of corrosion for boiler internal parts.
The use of dosing chemicals, their admission points on the system and the importance and effects of boiler blow-down.
Water cleanliness parameters and appropriate responses to excursions from required parameters.
