Application of Operating Principles to EFW and Biomass Plants

The aim of this training program is to assist operations and other technical personnel in applying the knowledge learnt during the previous course to their own site.  The course encourages learners to conduct in depth investigations and analysis of specific systems on their plant.

Learners who successfully complete five assignments will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.  Two of the assignments are mandatory with the other three being chosen from a possible six options.


The mandatory assignments are:

Thermodynamics.

Combustion and Abatement.


The optional assignments are:

Boilers and Steam Raising Plant.

Feed Water and Water Treatment Plant.

Steam Turbines.

Electrical Theory.

Instrumentation & Control.

Auxiliary Systems.


The course is started by a face-to-face tutorial session during which the learners will be provided with the full course program, advice, and guidance on completion of the assignments.  The first assignment will be issued during this session.  Succeeding assignments will be issued via email.  Learners will be able to receive on-going support from the tutor via email, telephone, or virtual meetings during office hours.
